ISPERN Report for March 29, 2024

Each day, anywhere from a few to dozens of alerts are broadcast by police officers and dispatchers in Illinois on what is known as “ISPERN”.

The “Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network” is a radio channel that all law enforcement agencies within the state have access to, to allow for better collaboration and communication in dynamic situations.

Some of the types of calls heard are carjackings and auto theft, wanted person alerts, unlawful use of a weapon incidents, police pursuits (active & terminated), wrong-way drivers, and drunk and reckless drivers traveling on expressways or other cross-jurisdictional roads – among many others as varied as a patrol officer’s call reports.

Here, we report the most significant calls heard by our team in Chicagoland. Not all call summaries will indicate a resolution, but may have been concluded on a different and possibly encrypted radio channel and not reported back to ISPERN.

This list is non-exhaustive and is filtered and summarized for simplicity.
