ISPERN Report for April 27, 2024

The “Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network” is a two-way police radio channel monitored and controlled by Illinois State Police that all law enforcement agencies in Illinois have access to, to facilitate better communication in emergencies

Each day, anywhere from a few to dozens of alerts are broadcast in Chicagoland alone.

Some of the calls reported include carjackings & auto-theft, fleeing & eluding, pursuits, wanted or missing person alerts, unlawful use of weapon incidents, and citizen reports of reckless, drunk, or wrong-way drivers – among many others

Here, we report the most significant calls heard by our team in Chicagoland. Not all call summaries will indicate a final resolution, and may have been concluded nonetheless on a different channel without updating ISPERN.

3:00a CDT – Franklin Park

Franklin Park Police reported a kidnapping in the 2500 block of Maple Street. A woman who was passed out in the passenger seat of an Uber driver’s silver Toyota Rav4 with red interior when the black male driver took off. Vehicle was last seen westbound on Richard from Maple

An update at 4:50a reported the victim was returned to their home and the alert was cancelled

4:20a CDT – Elgin

Elgin Police reported a carjacking of a blue 2000 Chevrolet Pickup truck with a white star on the rear window. Two hispanic men wearing all black with black face masks displayed a gun and took the vehicle

6:05a CDT – Elgin

Elgin Police reported a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with lawn equipment in the bed and keys in the vehicle was stolen from the 500 block of Teal Ave and was last seen westbound on Teal from the scene

9:45a CDT – Chicago

A caller reported a possible unlawful use of weapon when someone in a 1988 Ford pickup truck registered out of Chicago displayed a handgun to another driver. Vehicle was last seen southbound on I-94 at 83rd Street

11:50a CDT – Aurora

Aurora Police reported a black Mercedes sedan with California plates fled an officer from Route 34 and Village Green Drive. The 33yo white man driving was last seen eastbound on Route 34 from Village Green Drive

12:45p CDT – Addison

Addison Police reported a hit and run with personal injury by a semi-truck at Addison and Moreland. The white 2017 semi with orange lettering and Tennessee plates possibly had red paint transfer on the rear of the trailer and was last seen southbound on I-355 from North Ave

1:40p CDT – Elmhurst

Elmhurst Police reported a black sports bike ridden by a someone in all black with a black helmet fled an officer and was last seen southbound York at I-290

2:00p CDT – Chicago

A caller reported a possible unlawful use of weapon when someone in a black BMW fired shots while northbound on I-94 at 130th Street

2:15p CDT – Carpentersville

Carpentersville Police reported a hit and run with property damage on Route 31 and Main Street. A White 2008 Honda Odyssey van registered out of Rolling Meadows was driven by a heavyset hispanic man with a pony tail and was last seen going toward Huntley

3:00p CDT – Sugar Grove

Sugar Grove Police reported a forgery at the Ace Hardware on Galena. Wanted was a small black 1999 Ford pickup truck driven by a 35yo hispanic man wearing a baseball hat and red flannel shirt

4:50p CDT – Bridgeview

A State Trooper reported a gray 2020 Nissan Sentra registered out of Elmhurst fled a traffic stop and was last seen northbound on I-294 from Roberts Road. Vehicle was occupied by a man and woman

5:00p CDT – Chicago

An alert was broadcast for an orange 2016 Jeep Cherokee with Wisconsin plates that was wanted for aggravated battery that tripped an LPR southbound on I-94 at Grand Ave

Around 5:15p, a Trooper reported he had eyes on and confirmed a male driver with two female passengers at 111th and Doty. The trooper followed the vehicle for some time attempting to get backup in the area before the car began doing circles in the area of 111st and St Lawrence. The suspect eventually turned into the 5th District Chicago Police Station parking lot. The trooper initiated a traffic stop at that point when multiple CPD officers began talking with the offender. Nothing further was reported as the call was moved to another channel as CPD began their discussion

7:20p CDT – Naperville

Naperville Police reported a 2010 Chevrolet Impala with tints registered out of Aurora fled an officer and was last seen westbound on Forth Hill from Jefferson

8:40p CDT – South Holland

South Holland Police reported a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo with Texas plates that didn’t return a registration fled an officer from Sibley & Greenwood and was last seen southbound on Lincoln from Sibley

9:15p CDT – Chicago

Chicago Police reported a gray 2016 Mercedes registered out of Riverdale fled an officer from 59th & Yale. Vehicle was last seen southbound on I-94 at 61st
