ISPERN Report for April 26, 2024

The “Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network” is a two-way police radio channel monitored and controlled by Illinois State Police that all law enforcement agencies in Illinois have access to, to facilitate better communication in emergencies

Each day, anywhere from a few to dozens of alerts are broadcast in Chicagoland alone.

Some of the calls reported include carjackings & auto-theft, fleeing & eluding, pursuits, wanted or missing person alerts, unlawful use of weapon incidents, and citizen reports of reckless, drunk, or wrong-way drivers – among many others

Here, we report the most significant calls heard by our team in Chicagoland. Not all call summaries will indicate a final resolution, and may have been concluded nonetheless on a different channel without updating ISPERN.

1:25a CDT – Chicago

An alert ws broadcast for a white 2017 BMW registered out of Bensenville that fled an officer and was currently going the wrong way eastbound on 59th Street from Wabash

1:40a CDT – Oak Brook

Oak Brook Police reported they were in pursuit of a red Chevrolet Impala wanted for theft southbound on I-294 at mile marker 24.75. It was reported that all four tires had been spiked as it continued northbound on I-55 from the Tri-State at 50mph. A few minutes later the vehicle was stopped just short of Willow Springs and three subjects were in-custody with none outstanding

10:40a CDT – Chicago

A caller reported a domestic battery. She was in a man’s car westbound on I-290 west of Independence in a green Alfa Romeo SUV where the man had a gun. Last report was that they were passing Central

An update at 10:45a reported they were now westbound on I-290 passing Des Plaines. A moment later, dispatchers reported the caller’s phone was pinging stationary in the 3800 block of 25th Ave. Nothing further

11:10a CDT – Chicago

An alert was broadcast for an unlawful use of weapon on the westbound I-290 ramp from I-90/94 where shots were fired from two vehicles – a tan SUV and a white sedan

An update at 12:35p clarified the descriptions to a gray Chevrolet Equinox with male driver and female passenger and a child in back seat. Both vehicles reported fired shots and were last seen westbound at Damon

12:10p CDT – Lisle

Lisle Police reported a dark blue Nissan coupe, possibly a 350Z convertible, with Indiana plates, fled an officer. Officers continued following the vehicle at Ogden and Keller and reported later that they were now westbound on Ogden at Main Street. While stuck in traffic, it was reported they were last seen southbound on Yackley from Ogden

2:10p CDT – Chicago

An alert was broadcast for a wrong way driver in a black Volvo. Vehicle was southbound in the northbound lanes of I-55 at the Damon ramp

6:30p CDT – Glenwood

An alert was broadcast for a hit and run on northbound I-394 at Glenwood-Dyer Road. A black Chevrolet Malibu with tints registered out of Beecher was last seen eastbound on I-80 passing Torrence

7:55p CDT – Posen

Posen Police reported a stolen white Nissan Rogue fled an officer from 140th Street & Western Avenue driven by a white or hispanic man with long dark shaggy hair and a black hoodie and was last seen eastbound on 147th Street toward Harvey

8:50p CDT – Country Club Hills

An alert was broadcast for a possible unlawful use of weapon southbound on I-57 at 167th Street. Someone in a white Mercedes AMG SUV fired shots from the car and was last seen southbound passing Vollmer

9:50p CDT – Chicago

A stolen black 2016 Nissan Quest wanted for a robbery investigation tripped an LPR and was eastbound on I-290 from Springfield Ave. It was reported that there was a flag on the record to hold and preserve the vehicle for prints upon recovery
