ISPERN Report for March 31, 2024

The “Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network” is a two-way police radio channel that all law enforcement agencies within the state have access to, to allow for better collaboration and communication in dynamic situations.

Each day, anywhere from ten to dozens of alerts are broadcast by police officers and dispatchers in Illinois in Chicagoland alone.

Some of the calls reported are carjackings/auto-theft, fleeing & eluding, wanted person alerts, unlawful use of a weapon incidents, police pursuits (active & terminated), and citizen reports of reckless, drunk, or wrong-way drivers – among many others as varied as a patrol officer’s shift report.

Here, we report the most significant calls heard by our team in Chicagoland. Not all call summaries will indicate a final resolution, but may have been concluded nonetheless on a different channel without updating ISPERN.

This list is non-exhaustive and is filtered and summarized for simplicity.

March 31, 2024

10:10a CDT – Dolton

Dolton Police reported a black 2017 Infiniti sedan fled from their officers on I-94 northbound from Michigan City Road. The vehicle, registered to Arlington Heights, was occupied by two black men and also left the scene of an accident involving personal injury.

10:15a CDT – Northbrook

Northbrook Police reported a stolen gray Nissan Versa with Wisconsin plates that is wanted on a warrant had fled from an officer and was last seen westbound on I-94 from Lake Cook Road. The driver was described as a black man with dreadlocks

3:15p CDT – Summit

Summit Police reported a vehicle wanted for a possible domestic incident. At the time of the initial alert, the vehicle’s last known location was I-55 northbound at Harlem passing Kedzie.

The alert was cancelled at 3:45p when it was reported that the vehicle was stopped

5:30p CDT – Matteson

Matteson Police reported a stolen black Nissan Altima with tinted windows and a flat rear passenger tire fled from an officer on Lincoln Highway westbound toward Harlem Ave

The alert was updated at 6:05p to report that New Lenox Police spotted the vehicle I-80 eastbound at Wolf Road

5:45p CDT – Chicago

The Chicago Police helicopter reported a possible sighting of a stolen white Hyundai on the Dan Ryan and requested ground units to verify the license plate. The vehicle was located by a ground unit southbound on Chicago at Stony Island where the trooper attempted to curb the vehicle. The suspect fled and the pursuit was turned back over to the helicopter for tracking

The car pulled into a garage in the 7700 block of Cornell when two subjects were spotted walking away to the south. Chicago Police reported two individuals were detained shortly after and units cleared ISPERN

8:00p CDT – Burr Ridge

A caller reported seeing a man and woman fighting on the side of I-55 northbound at County Line Road. The vehicle was described as a white Dodge Durango with White Sox plates which was registered to a Chicago address.

8:35p CDT – Munster

A Munster officer reported they were in pursuit of a stolen black Lincoln westbound on Ridge road. The car fled until reaching a dead-end on Donte Ave in Lansing. One or two subjects were seen fleeing from the vehicle on foot and one may have been apprehended

Dispatch updated the call at 8:55p with a possible spotting of an individual running through yards westbound into the junkyard from the 18300 block of Harbor Ave

8:45p CDT – Addison

A caller reported to dispatchers that they witnessed a man striking a woman and pulling her hair on I-290 eastbound at Addison. An alert was broadcast for a blue Chevrolet Impala
