Dashcam: Fake Rx Leads to Chase in Alpena, Michigan

On October 26, 2020 around 6:30p, three individuals attempted to use fraudulent prescriptions to obtain controlled substances. Pharmacy employees were wise to the scheme and called police who arrived moments later.

Upon arrival, officers and deputies located a vehicle similar to the one staff had described, still in the parking lot. After activating their lights and sirens, the driver fled down Chisholm Street while swerving between lanes. The offender eventually struck at least one car, almost hit multiple others, and narrowly missed multiple pedestrians including at least two juvenilles.

The car eventually left the roadway, struck a few trees, when all of the offenders fled on foot. Officers and Deputies immediately gave chase on foot and apprehended all three within a short amount of time. They were arrested and booked in the Alpena County Jail.

Two of the offenders pled guilty by summer, 2021 – but one offender’s status was not able to be ascertained.

We applaud the officers and deputies for their quick response, skillful driving, and rapid apprehension. We’re sure your community appreciates your tireless efforts.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
