Dashcam: Carjackers Flee at 100MPH in Chicago Burbs

July 28, 2021

In the early morning hours of July 28, 2021, Midlothian Police received a tip of three suspicious individuals at a local gas station. In-between the tip and showing up on scene, the three suspects robbed at least one individual and carjacked a vehicle.

Upon arrival, the officer saw the three individuals in the car and activated his lights as the offenders drove off in a reckless manner. Reaching speeds in excess of 100mph, officers pursued the suspect through multiple jurisdictions in Chicago’s south and southwest suburbs.

After a nearly ten-minute pursuit, officers lost sight of the fleeing vehicle. Additional nearby agencies were notified, and the vehicle was found unoccupied a short time later.

While no one was taken into custody, this is one stolen vehicle that will NOT be used in further carjackings, robberies, or worse – all thanks to the efforts of local law enforcement.

We thank the officers, especially the Midlothian Police Department, for their commitment to Public Safety.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
